The children's books that Bound to Be… collects are further donated directly to food shelves, crisis resource centers, back-to-school backpack events and shelters throughout Washington County.
Why focus on Washington County?***
According to the Pioneer Press on October 15, 2015:
One in three suburban students now receives federally subsidized meals.
Poverty is growing in both inner-ring and outer-ring suburbs, districts like Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan, South Washington County and Mounds View saw
low-income student numbers increase more than 65 percent.
U.S. Census data shows 52% of poor families and 54% of poor children now live in the suburbs.
***Due to Covid-19, we have extended our outreach to pick up and donate throughout the Twin Cities.
